St. Petersburg "Russian ballet" theatre was founded in the 1990 by the actors of Kirov Ballet. The "Russian ballet" creative credo is to save the unique spirit and performing traditions of Petersburg, Leningrad ballet school, which roots go back to the beginnings of the Russian Emperor ballet. All the performances are carried out in authentic editing and original choreography.
The theatre repertoire includes the masterpieces of the classic ballet - "Swan lake", "Gizelle", "Nutcracker", "The Sleeping beauty", "Les Sylphides", and "Paquita". Actors of troupe are the graduates of St. Petersburg Academy of Russian Ballet of Vaganova, the main and oldest Russian choreographic educational institution based in 1738.
The main sets in performances are played by soloists of Mariinsky theatre. Zh. Auypova, S. Gumerova, V. Ivanova, E. Tarasova, I. Golub, V. Baranov, E. Ivanchenko, V. Kim, M. Kulik, A. Batalov and others belonged to the "Russian ballet" troupe.
The choreography of performances is kept at the highest level due to the work of the troupe teaching coachers, the artistic careers of which are closely connected to the Academy of Russian Ballet by Vaganova and Mariinsky theatre.
Due to the united performing school the theatre performances created more than a hundred years ago by the classics of Russian ballet such as Marius Petipa, Leo Ivanov, Mikhail Fokin, and Vasily Vaynonen are still actual and up-to-date. They are filled with the original pure author's choreography and artistic idea.
Due to carefully kept choreography even the unsophisticated spectator during the performances of "Russian Ballet" feels the power of author's ideas "at first-hand", is the witness of birth of a legend and understands why these performances have become the world hits. And this is not accidental, the ballet dancers' leg and arms are moved by their native! choreography. When we speak about Russian classic ballet we mean the Petersburg ballet.
During the performances the spectators can feel the charm of the refined Petersburg style of dance.
